The Academy of Urbanism (AoU) and the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland RIAI are holding the AoU 10th Anniversary Conference ‘Urban Futures Cities & Towns in Transition’. The aim of the conference is to recognise, encourage and celebrate great places and the people and organisations that create and sustain them. This three day conference taking place in Dublin Castle includes talks followed by Q&A. The speakers include Philip Jackson (AoU Chairman), Steven Bee (AoU Chairman), Gráinne Shaffrey, Martin Colreavy, Ali Grehan, Tony Reddy (AoU Director), Malcolm Gladwell, Tom Bloxham, Paul Kearns & Motti Ruimy (Redrawing Dublin), Eric Frijters, Charles Landry, Kevin Murray (AoU Director), Peter Hynes (County Manager Mayo Co Co), Yvonne Farrell & Shelly McNamra (Co-Founders of Grafton Architects), Prof. Brian Evans, Kelvin Campbell (Founder of Smart Urbanism), Herbert Girardet (Co-Founder of World Future Council), Yolande Barnes, Elizabeth Plater-Zyberg & Andres Duany (Duany Plater-Zyberg & Company) and Marten Simms.
As part of the conference there are walking tours of Temple Bar with guides Frank McDonald and Shane O’Toole; the Docklands guided by Seán O’Laoire, Tony Reddy and Ruairí Quinn and Adamstown/Ballymun guides by John O’Mahony and David Pritchard.
