RIAI Architects at the Ideal Home Show 2016 – Extend and Renovate Theatre, RDS Simmonscourt, Dublin 4
From Friday 28 to Monday 31 October the permanent tsb Ideal Home Show will host an exciting range of talks and panel discussions from architects and architectural designers, giving expert advice and the latest trends in interior and architectural design.
Among the many must-see events on throughout the weekend includes a panel discussion on Saturday 29th, 2.40pm-3.30pm, How to get the most of my house, including tips for renovations, extensions and even smaller works, chaired by Amanda Bone and Dr Sandra O’Connell (RIAI) with speakers Fergus Flanagan, Jacqueline Long and Eva Byrne. On Sunday in the Irish Times Home Design Theatre, 2.40pm-3.30pm, Irish Times journalist Emma Cullinan will be talking to Eva Byrne on ‘How to Reconfigure a Home to make it Better’. Following this Frances O’Rourke will talk to the architect Fionnuala Rogerson on ‘Growing old at Home takes Some Adapting’.
Finishing off the Bank Holiday weekend of architectural talks there will be a panel discussion on Monday 31st, 2.40-3.30pm, An Architect, Why, What, How? Followed by Q&A from the audience chaired by Amanda Bone MRIAI the speakers will be Eva Byrne, Fergus Flanagan and Jacqueline Long.
Darragh runs the architectural practice Darragh Lynch Architects in Malahide specialising in housing, sustainability and community development. He is currently the chair of the RIAI Sustainability Taskforce.
Leading Designer Architect Fergus Flanagan, returned from Germany 10 years ago where he worked with some of Europe’s top Architects, since then he has opened a practice in Dublin and Wexford. He has appeared on TV3, on Newstalk radio and had a weekly show on Dublin city FM, his work has been published in numerous publications including the Irish independent & Irish Property guides.
Eva Byrne, MRIAI is a registered architect and founder of houseology, which specialises in house consultations to make the most of space, light and storage in your home.
Fionnuala is Principal Architect in Fionnuala Rogerson Architects and access consultant. She is a Director of Architecture for All Work Programme Region l for the UIA (International Union of Architects) and sits on the Jury Panel for the UIA Awards. Member of Council of the RIAI, Member of RIAI Universal DesignTask Force, International Affairs and Healthcare Design Committees and Building Control Technical Work Group 1.
Tom Duffy is an architect in Green Design Build is multidisciplinary design build Architect led practice based in Dublin focused on commercial & domestic building solutions using sustainable materials and the densification of our existing built environment.
Jacqueline Long is an Urban Designer in Circa Design holds an MA in Urban Design. She specialises in urban and interior design.
