Editorial – #AIextra and Architecture Ireland online

You may have noticed that over the Christmas break, we made a few changes to the look and layout of the Architecture Ireland website.

One of the reasons for this is that we’d like to focus more on the original articles, independent analysis and fresh insights pursued by our #AIextra contributors.

Since beginnning the series, we’ve been fortunate to have had a broad range of architects, students and researchers share their writings on the subjects that interest them most. While reviewing the last 18 months of published essays, we thought it might make sense to organise this work within a number of categories – both as a way to navigate through the existing collection and to provide some direction for future submissions. As such, we’ve decided on the following 6 themes:

Building Reviews
Critical Thinking
Histories of Architecture
Macro Cultures
The City

Hopefully this structure will help make our original content more easily accessible, as well as offer some guidance for articles which have yet to be written. However, it’s by no means an exhaustative list. For example, architectural book reviews is a topic we’d like to see more of in the future, and one which we plan on adding later this year.

Finally, for those of you interested in submitting work to the series, please know that we operate an ongoing open call and look forward to any thoughts or suggestions you may have for new articles. Essays, queries and inqueries should be sent via email to our Online Editor, Michael Hayes at michael.k.hayes(at)ucd.ie.
