As we look forward to the upcoming Architecture and Building Expo, 6-7 October, Architecture Ireland takes a look at the Expo’s annual Architects’ Choice Awards through a series of interviews with past winning suppliers.
In this article, we speak with Glen Dimplex Ireland. In 2016, Glen Dimplex were awarded the ‘Best Technology Product’ Award for the Dimplex A Class heat pump.
Glen Dimplex Ireland previously won the Architect’s Choice Award in the Best Technology Product category at Architecture Expo 2016. Could you please tell us more about the winning product in question and what impact its success in the Awards has had?
Last year we entered our Dimplex A Class heat pump in the best technology product category at the Architecture Expo. We were delighted to have won the award and it has been a great recognition of Glen Dimplex group’s investment in developing the product here in Ireland. The award has put us front and centre in architects’ minds when it comes to delivering heating comfort in modern well-designed buildings, while also providing a one box technology to meeting Part L of the building regulations.
Glen Dimplex Ireland will be exhibiting at the Architecture and Building Expo again this year. Are there any particular products or services you’ll be presenting at the show that you could tell us more about here?
We have chosen Architecture and Building Expo 2017 as the venue to launch our new premium heating brand Campa. Campa designs high-end radiators that are both technological and genuine design items. Developed for the needs of professionals (reception areas, hallways, hotel rooms), but also for individuals (living rooms and bedrooms), they provide a guarantee of reliable and resilient technology with classic and contemporary design using glass, lava stone and steel.
As a key provider of smart heating solutions and products, what are the main changes you’ve experienced in this sector over the last number of years and are there any future trends you see emerging?
The connection of appliances over the internet represents one the biggest opportunities and challenges for manufacturers. In line with these developments, we hope to launch our own connected devices in the very near future. As people look to control their energy bills and manipulate their energy usage from their smartphones, heating products are a perfect fit in a connected world and open opportunities for new services and business models.
When considering contemporary heating systems (both residential and commercial), what would be your advice to architects when specifying in this area?
When it comes to heating no one in the market has more experience than Glen Dimplex. Architects can rely on us not just in heating a building but also when it comes to meeting regulatory requirements of Part L of the building regulations. So in summary rely on the experts and talk to us regarding your specification.
Finally, if our readers wish to chat with Glen Dimplex Ireland during or after the Architecture and Building Expo, who, how and where can they find you?
