David Puttnam will officially open the Morrison’s Island International Design Competition Exhibition at 7pm on Thursday February 1st in the Crawford Building, CIT, Cork.
A special edition book will be launched on the night to commemorate the exhibition. The exhibition will run for the month of February and will be open to the public from 10am-5pm Monday to Friday. The opening night is an open invitation and all are welcome.
SYMPOSIUM: Morrison’s Island International Design Competition & Cork Tidal Barrier
The winners of the competition;
- First Place: HH+ and Francis Keane Architect
- Second Place: A2 Architects
- Third Place: GKMP Architects
Will present their schemes to the public on Saturday 3rd of February at 11am in G19, Kane Building, UCC. In addition, international flood expert, Erik Kraaij who is the Deputy Director of the Dutch Flood Protection Programme will present on the principles of tidal barriers and also the Cork Tidal Barrier.
The Cork tidal barrier which was costed at €140m, was designed by HR Wallingfords, UK. Further information on the Cork Tidal Barrier by HR Wallingford may be found here
This event is free to the public and all are welcome. Guests are encouraged to come early, as places are limited.
The Morrison’s Island International Design Competition was organised by the Cork Architectural Association with the support of the Architectural Association of Ireland and the National Sculpture Factory. The exhibition and symposium was organised with the support of Cork Institute of Technology and University College Cork.
