Architecture Ireland anticipates our upcoming November Issue with an article preview of the winner of the RCPI student competition.
The Royal College of Pysicians of Ireland have recently announced the winner of their student competition, to reimagine the site of the RCPI building on Kildare street today, using the same brief from the original competition.

The competition was awarded to Dermot Horgan, a student of CCAE, for his intervention that uses a tectonic grid to reference the Georgian context of the street.
“A primary goal of the project was to address this issue of public involvement and interaction in both the site, on the northern end of Kildare Street, and in the college as a whole.” says Horgan, “The process of engaging people from Kildare Street into an external plaza on the lower ground floor created an opportunity to distinguish the site as both open and welcoming to all.”
